Top 3 Free Agent QB Options for Bills
One of the big issues for the Bills last season was the lack of consistency in the quarterback position. At the beginning of training camp, the Bills had journeyman QB Kevin Kolb, undrafted rookie free agent Jeff Tuel and the 16th overall pick EJ Manuel. Things seemed great. Fans flocked to St. John Fisher College to watch the QB Battle between Kolb and Manuel, and hell, even Tuel looked good for a while. Then disaster struck in the form of a wet mat. Kolb went down walking from one field to another. Injured knee. Out for about a week. Which allowed Manuel to get the majority of snaps in practice. Then Manuel goes down. Injured knee. Out for the remainder of the preseason. Then Kolb gets a concussion in the 2nd preseason game and ended up on season ending IR.
Two out of three of their QBs are out of commision and only Tuel is left standing. So what do the Bills do? Pick up Matt Leinart and traded for Thad Lewis (Detroit Lions). Yay…
Leinart lasted about 6 minutes with the Bills and I think we all know how Manuel, Tuel and Lewis’ year went. So the Bills need to pick up another veteran QB in free agency this year, to mentor EJ and the other youngsters. Who fits the bill (joke totally intended)?
