If Victor Cruz is considering work after football, he should consider becoming an agent.

Cruz made it clear that his teammate Hakeem Nicks deserves a major payday when his contract expires after the season.  Maybe hanging out with Jay-Z is starting to rub off on Cruz because after Hova helped Cruz get his six-year $45 million deal, the Paterson, NJ native feels like he can help out Nicks.

Cruz told USA Today Sports what he thinks his teammate Nicks is worth.  Cruz has always referred to Nicks as the team’s “no. 1 receiver” and believes that his teammate should be paid more than he is:

“Absolutely, Hakeem is worth Mike Wallace money,” Cruz said. “He’s worth whatever his numbers indicate, which are pretty well up there and worth that.  If he does ask my advice, I’d tell him to go out there and play. That’s the only thing he can control — playing his heart out each and every week, being a good guy in the locker room, which he already is. Everything else will fall into place.”

Even though Cruz might be thinking about Nick’s contract, Nick insists that he isn’t.  Nicks says that he is only focused on football, so the contract will play itself out.

“I’m rooting for Victor just as much he roots for me,” Nicks said. “I’m not even going to get into all that right now. It’s going to be strictly football. The contract will take care of itself. I have no doubt about it.”

If there’s one thing that Cruz has right, it’s that Nicks is the team’s number one receiver; when healthy.  This season will be no different for Nicks who has yet to show that he can stay on the field for an entire season.  The talent is there and if he can play 16 games, he will get that Mike Wallace-like contract that Cruz is predicting.

The Giants are hoping he can do that, but it would certainly be tough to be paying two wide receivers like that.
