Seven percent Share Of Sacramento Kings Is Up For Sale

Would you like to be an owner of an NBA team? Well, now is your chance!

Ok, maybe not so much. The ownership stake will be quite pricey, and it’s only to be an owner of the Sacramento Kings, one of the least desirable franchises in the NBA.

But hey, if you want to be part of the DeMarcus Cousins/Tyreke Evans era, then you can start your bidding now.

According to the Sacramento Bee:

A 7 percent share of the Sacramento Kings is about to head for the auction block.

The share held by bankrupt Sacramento developer Bob Cook is expected to be sold off, with the proceeds to be split among Cook’s creditors.

According to the report, Bob Cook is looking to liquidate his assets in bankruptcy, including his 7% ownership in the Sacramento Kings. The stake will go to the highest bidder, and could include an existing member of the ownership team.

I really can’t imagine what the market is to buy 7% of the cellar-dwelling Kings, but I guess someone will bite for the right price.

The team went 22-44 last year, and are one of the less promising franchises in the league. They have an overload in the backcourt, included a “drafted way too high” player in Jimmer Fredette, a disgruntled guard in Tyreke Evans, and their best player, DeMarcus Cousins, is still troublesome.
