76ers sign Kwame Brown

Former number one overall pick Kwame Brown just keeps on getting deals, huh?

He will sign a 2 year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to CBS Sports. The contract is reportedly worth $6 million, with the second year being a player option.

This comes soon after Philadelphia used their amnesty clause on big man Elton Brand, thus erasing his salary from the cap and making him available to other teams.

The former number one overall pick has bounced around the league his whole career and has never come close to living up to the expectations that come along with being the number one pick. Let’s just say it’s not one of Michael Jordan’s finest moments as an executive.

Kwame Brown most recently played for the Golden State Warriors last season, although injuries prevented him from consistently finding his way into the lineup.

He has averaged 7 points and 6 rebounds in 11 NBA seasons.

The 76ers expect Brown to back up starting center Spencer Hawes, who is one of the better young big men in the league. Hawes averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds last season, and is known as a very good passer for a player of his size.

Kwame Brown entered the league straight out of high school, and is one of the prime examples of players who just weren’t ready to adjust to the grind of the NBA.
