Andre Miller: “We got outcoached” by Warriors

  • Frank Santos

Any time a teams season ends, specifically after upsets like the #6 seed Warriors defeating the #3 seed Nuggets last night, there is always a bit of the “blame game” that ensues. Throughout the social media world, many are already calling for the head of Nuggets coach George Karl, who has only coached the Nuggets out of the first round once since he took over the team in 2005. Usually, most of these things are more hype than anything from the media, but it never helps when players add fuel to the fire. That seems to be the case after backup point guard Andre Miller made these remarks after the Nuggets were eliminated.

A few things here: even if it wasn’t his intent, Miller’s comments are undoubtedly going to be construed as a direct shot at Karl, though he may have been purely speaking out of frustration. It seems as if he was saying that the team was outperformed from top to bottom, which…is true. Also, it is hard to convince me a coach should be fired after his team set the franchise-record for wins in a season, and had to play in the playoffs without one of his best players due to injury (which will, and possibly should be negated because Golden State was doing the same thing after the Lee injury.)

However, we all know the playoffs are a different beast, and the inability to get your team out of the first round can really make a lasting impression on how people perceive you, just ask Tracy McGrady.

Lastly, of all people to call out Karl, how could it be Andre Miller?! The same guy that Karl completely over-hyped as one of the best point guards EVER. And he wasn’t kidding.

Karl may want to reconsider his position (maybe from his couch) after seeing these comments.

One Response to Andre Miller: “We got outcoached” by Warriors

  • Andre is completely correct about being out coached. The Nuggets were taken out of all the things they did well to win so many regular season games. The players effort was inconsistent and rebounding was almost non-existent.
