Antawn Jamison Says He Deserves a Championship
The Lakers made their fair share of buzz this summer, particularly for a team that said they weren’t look to make any big moves prior to the offseason. On top of adding stars Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, they added a variety of solid role players. One of the most important among them is Antawn Jamison.
Jamison hasn’t had a completely special career, but it has been pretty impressive nonetheless. He’s averaged 19 points and 9 rebound for his career, and has been known for his ability to score the ball. He’s bounced around a bit for the past few seasons, but is looking for a ring before he can ride off into the sunset.
Not only is he looking for a ring, he feels he deserves it.
According to Slam Online, Antawn Jamison believes he is entitled to a ring. Seriously.
“Man, I deserve it. I want one bad. I envision it all. I envision holding that trophy up, I envision going to that parade, I envision getting that ring. It’s the only thing that keeps me motivated, having my name associated with a champion. I just deserve it.”
Now don’t get me wrong, Jamison has been a good player for a while; definitely one of the better ones in the league. That being said, to say you deserve a championship is a little much. Particularly for a player who has never been considered elite.
That being said, he might have his wish granted. The Lakers are one of the favorites to win the title this season, with a core of Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Pau Gasol, Los Angeles is stacked. Jamison needs to be a major piece off the bench, particularly on the offensive end, for the plan to take shape.
But to say you deserve a ring is bold, that’s for sure.
