Blake Griffin will fight you off the court if you think he’s soft
Blake Griffin has had enough with people calling him soft. Yes, Blake will step outside and accept any challenge from people who think he is soft. Of course he won’t do it on the court, that would get you a 45 game suspension in today’s NBA. Could Griffin have been subtly responding to Chauncey Billups comment of him being “too nice?” We know he wasn’t talking about Zach Randolph!
Last month, teammate Chauncey Billups said on ESPN’s “First Take” that Griffin might be “too nice” and NBA opponents often take advantage of that aspect of his personality.
Griffin fired back to his critics who think he is too soft.
Blake Griffin said in an interview with ESPN that he’s not worried if he is being labeled as soft around the NBA and is willing to prove that he’s not to his detractors in the league — off the court.
“I’ve never really worried about being called soft or people thinking I’m soft,” the Los Angeles Clippers’ star power forward said. “If anybody wants to step and take that challenge I’m more than happy — off the court — because I don’t want to get suspended. It’s not something that I dwell on. I’ve never really had a problem with being soft.”
Whether Griffin would really take it that far is a debate for a different day, but as Stephen A. Smith, there is a lot of talk around the NBA about how soft Griffin really is. With Boston import Doc Rivers as coach, that should change quickly this season. Rivers and his Boston teams were known for their physicality. I’m ready for some NBA now!
