A couple of weeks after announcing his return to the game, Brandon Roy has suddenly become a popular free agent option.According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Roy has narrowed his options down to 5 potential teams; the Chicago Bulls, the Dallas Mavericks, the Indiana Pacers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Golden State Warriors.
All these teams make sense for various reasons. The Bulls need a combo guard to carry the offense while Derrick Rose recovers from injury. The Mavericks may lose Jason Terry, and would need a bench scorer to replace his production. The Pacers could use a veteran guard who can score off the bench behind George Hill and Paul George. The Timberwolves are strong at point guard and have good big men, but are desperate for a quality wing player. The Warriors are set on Steph Curry and Klay Thompson as their starting guards, but could use a veteran presence to back up both positions.
Roy was one of the league’s elite guards when he was healthy, and was a dynamic scorer who could take over a game at any given moment. He was forced to announce his retirement following last season after struggling with knee problems.
Brandon Roy underwent the same knee procedure that Kobe Bryant had done in Germany.
