Rajon Rondo Tore His ACL

News came out right before the Boston Celtics/Miami Heat matchup that Rajon Rondo would be sitting out due to a knee injury. This was a bit surprising, since you know that these are the games that Rondo circles on his calender at the beginning of the season.

As the engine of the team, it’s tough for the Celtics to flourish with Rondo on the bench. Reportedly, the Celtics are fearing the worst for their All-Star point guard. As in, a torn ACL that would sideline Rondo for the rest of the season.

It’s too early to know anything definite, but this is potentially awful news for the Celtics. They can’t compete long-term without him, and really lack a true point guard that can replace him. Courtney Lee and Avery Bradley can fill the role in very short stints, but they lack another ball handling play maker.

Rajon Rondo was named an All-Star starter, averaging 14 points, 11 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.

We’ll keep you updated with any more news.

UPDATE:

This has since been confirmed. Rajon Rondo will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

It has been written, said, announced etc. that this is the BEST team Doc has ever coached. Individually they all excel. Maybe with Rondo injury each one will do what all great Celtic players have done in the past……….become a team. We win by defense, together, every player doing his part. May not be pretty but has always been effective. So far this team hasn’t done that. This may be the time;as shown in win today against Heat. Me for one NEVER count out my Cs,nor will I trust Rondo is out. Not just yet anyway. Heart, chemistry and will to win is what drives our Captain Pierce and KG. Lets wait and see what Red is so foundry willing down from above. The drive to #18 with our guys is what I will continue to believe in.
