Clippers prepared to offer blockbuster to the Lakers after trade with Celtics falls through
The Los Angeles Clippers may have outdone the man they are trying to trade for in the rumor mill department. With the Clippers reportedly rejecting the potential Boston Celtics blockbuster that would have sent them Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett, they have now turned their attention to Los Angeles Lakers’ center, Dwight Howard.
Sources say the Clippers want to keep open the option that they could package Bledsoe with Griffin in a sign-and-trade offer for Howard after the Lakers’ center becomes a free agent on July 1. ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard reported Friday that Howard and Clippers star Chris Paul have been in consistent contact in recent weeks in hopes of landing on the same team via free agency.
The free agency period starts July 1st, when sign and trades could happen. But would both Los Angeles franchises pull off a blockbuster trade with each other? Arash Markazi, who writes for ESPN, tweeted out an interesting point about a potential trade between the Lakers and Clippers.
2 things I’d bet my life on: 1. The Clippers will never trade Griffin to the Lakers. 2. The Lakers will never trade Howard to the Clippers.
