Derek Fisher Re-Signs With Thunder
Derek Fisher is re-signing with the Thunder on a 1 year, $1.4M deal worth the veteran’s minimum according to Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman. After losing out on the Mike Miller sweepstakes, re-signing Fisher is a good move for the Thunder and also a good move for Fisher, who is still on his quest for a 6th NBA championship ring.
The Thunder don’t have a lot help off the bench, especially when it comes to scoring the basketball. Derek Fisher is a guy that can help the team in the scoring department. Especially when it comes to knocking down threes.
Still, the Thunder are in recovery mode after losing Kevin Martin to the Timberwolves, and they desperately need a third scoring option to go with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant in the backcourt. Don’t get me wrong, retaining Fisher is nice for the Thunder, but it certainly doesn’t at all alleviate the problem of losing Kevin Martin after trading away James Harden to get him. The Thunder still have a lot of work to do in the front office to put together a team that can win the Western Conference next season.
