Derrick Favors Agrees To A 4 Year, $49M Extension With The Jazz
After letting both Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap leave in free agency, it was clear that the Utah Jazz were putting the weight of the franchise on the backs of their young big men Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter. It became even more clear on Friday when the Jazz and Derrick Favors agreed on a 4 year, $49M contract extension.
This ultimately is a move that the Jazz had to make. In order to show that they were serious about building around Favors, they had to show him the money, and that they have by giving him a lucrative extension. The Jazz are in full on rebuilding mode with all their key players having no more than 3 years of NBA experience. It’s going to be a long year in Salt Lake City, but at least now Jazz fans can know that one of their key building blocks isn’t going anywhere for a while.
