Gregg Popovich Named Coach of the Year

  • Mark Evans

Is this any sort of surprise?

As the regular seasons awards begin to roll out, we have now learned that Gregg Popovich has won Coach of the Year award.

Many acknowledge Coach Pop as the best coach in the NBA. For my money, he could win the award almost every single year.

The Spurs raced to a number one seed in a competitive Western Conference while often resting many of their key players and playing whoever happened to be on the bench. Their roster is deep, but it’s amazing that the Spurs were the top team in the West when you consider who was playing heavy minutes.

Pop definitely deserves this award, but I doubt he’ll act too excited. He knows the ultimate goal, and Pop is always one to give credit to his players.
