Houston Rockets to pursue Chris Bosh if Melo signs elsewhere
It’s always important to have a contingency plan in the NBA, especially when it comes to free agency. With Carmelo Anthony being courted by numerous teams, and reportedly buying what Phil Jackson is selling in New York, his other suitors may have to start looking elsewhere. The Houston Rockets, who are one of those aforementioned suitors for Anthony, have their eyes on Miami Heat star Chris Bosh if Melo decides to sign back with the Knicks, or anywhere else not named Houston.
Via ESPN’s Marc Stein:
Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday night that the Rockets — while still holding out hope that Anthony will choose them after hosting him Wednesday in Houston — have already let Bosh know how interested they are in bringing the Dallas native back to Texas.
Bosh would be a great addition next to Dwight Howard in the Houston front-court, and may even be a better fit than Anthony, to be honest. The only potential problem I can see with a Howard, Bosh, and James Harden ‘big three’ is they would desperately need a point guard that could distribute the shots accordingly.
Other than that, this seems like a proper plan B for the Rockets in the event that Melo decides not to sign, and the Miami big three decide to go their separate ways as well.
