Iman Shumpert for Kenneth Faried trade talks intensifying
The New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets are discussing a trade that would send Kenneth Faried to the Gotham City in exchange for shooting guard, Iman Shumpert. The initial talks started last week and according to Frank Isola, have intensified. This would be the first move made by newly appointed general manager Steve Mills.
Via New York Daily News:
Talks between the Knicks and Nuggets centered around a deal that would send Iman Shumpert to Denver for forward Kenneth Faried have intensified in recent days, the Daily News has learned.
According to a league source, no deal is imminent, although the struggling Knicks feel they need to make a move to bolster their banged-up front court.
Isola claims that Shumpert has fallen out of favor with coach Mike Woodson and owner James Dolan. I’m not sure if Dolan is coaching the team, but apparently Dolan is still mad at Shump for not learning how to play point guard. And you never know what’s going on with coach Woodson as his rotations are about as predictable as the weather.
This seems like a typical panic move made by the Knicks in a desperate attempt to remain relevant. I wonder if the Knicks brass realizes Tyson Chandler will be back in a month and that the Knicks are at their best with Carmelo Anthony playing the power forward spot. You know, the same position Faried plays. Furthermore, opposing point guards live in the paint against the Knicks, would you really want to get rid of your best perimeter defender for a hybrid power forward that hurts your spacing? Only the Knicks.
