Jazz break bad news to the Hornets

  • Andy Flint

The Charlotte Hornets pulled a tactic to land a coveted free agent this Summer. The Hornets offered Utah Jazz’ restricted free agent, Gordon Hayward, a deal that would land the 24-year old wing in Charlotte for four-years. The deal was worth a reported $63 million, and the Jazz had three days to match if they planned to keep Hayward locked up in Utah.

Reports were all over the place, as many analysts and fans didn’t expect the Jazz to match a deal of that magnitude. Apparently the Jazz felt differently and have decided to match the offer.

Free Agency has already been a good one, and this deal solidifies Utah’s future a bit more, as they keep a starting member of a young, and promising roster. The Jazz selected guard, Dante Exum, with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. The Jazz could feature a starting lineup of Trey Burke, Dante Exum, and Hayward at the same time in 2014-15. This young, explosive cast could be one of the NBA’s most exciting trios to watch next season.
