The NBA has a rich history of veteran players giving their new rookie teammates a hard time – jokingly of course – from filling their cars with popcorn to locking them in hotel rooms, the young newcomers get welcomed with a lot of laughs.

This year, the Utah Jazz drafted Australian point guard Dante Exum with the fifth overall pick, and his teammates are welcoming him with open arms.

Fellow point guard Trey Burke accompanied his new teammate from the draft to Salt Lake City where they immediately got down to business on learning the new playbook. After the initial press conference, Exum and Rodney Hood (Utah’s 23rd selection) met the rest of their teammates.

Utah center Derrick Favors must like Exum, as he has already bought the rookie a gift and showed it off on Twitter.

A little Aussie joke for his new teammate. That’s sure to build a bit of a friendship early!
