John Wall pursuing Kevin Durant to join the Wizards
John Wall got the best of Kevin Durant last night as the Washington Wizards defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder by the score of 96-81. While it was a signature win for the Wizards, they still are just a .500 team sitting at 23-23. Although the Wizards are poised to make the playoffs for the first time in the John Wall era, the young point guard from Kentucky knows adding a player like Kevin Durant to the Wizards could make them a favorite in the Eastern Conference for years to come.
Via The Washington Post:
Wall and Durant both share the same trainer, Rob McClanaghan, and worked out together a few times last summer in Los Angeles. Wall didn’t deny that has already started planting seeds about Durant playing in Washington.
“I throw a little slick shots here and there,” Wall said on Friday with a laugh. “Try something.”
Durant, of course, will be the most sought-after free agent in the summer of 2016. KD has already responded to predictions of him leaving and likely will face increased media attention regarding his free agency status in the years ahead. The Wizards could be very appealing for Durant if Wall continues to mature as a player. However, with still two more seasons left on his deal, Wall and the Wizards should be focused on this season and not get caught up in the Durant free agency hoopla.
