Josh Childress Choosing Between Three Teams: Kings, 76ers, Mystery Team
Yes it is true, former Stanford standout Josh Childress is still interested in playing pro basketball, and more impressively, he has three NBA teams that are interested in his services. According to Shams Charania of RealGM:
The Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings are known as firm suitors for wing free agents.
The third team is a mystery team. Childress, a former lottery pick, hasn’t exactly had the career he would have envisioned back when he was drafted. After four solid years in the NBA, he played in Greece for two seasons, and then came back to the NBA averaging 5.0 points, 2.9 points, and 1.0 points per game, playing in just 48 games over the past two seasons. He basically hasn’t been any good since the 2007-08 season in which he averaged 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He was 24 back then, and now he’s 30 years old. He’s no longer a spring chicken, and what’s worse is he hasn’t been good since he was a spring chicken. It’s hard to imagine he’ll be able to turn back the clock and play close to the level he was playing at 6 years ago, but I wish him all the best and hope he has a much improved 2013-14 season.
