Kenyon Martin returning to Knicks
Kenyon Martin has agreed to return to the Knicks for another season, according to his agent, Andy Miller. Adam Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that Martin signed with the Knicks for the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million.
Signing with the Knicks in late February, Martin averaged 7.2 ppg for the Knicks last season with a 60 percent field goal percentage along with 5.3 rpg. Martin also averaged during postseason play and scored in in three postseason games. Martin’s rim defense and ability to defend in the paint were integral parts of the Knicks’13-game winning streak, according to Ian Begley’s story on ESPNNewYork.com.
With Martin’s signing, the Knicks still have three spots on their roster. Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald has said one or two of those could be left open in order to be able to sign an invitee to the Knicks training camp, according to Begley.
