LaMarcus Aldridge: “I Would Like To Re-Sign” In Portland
Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune has some exciting news for Portland Trail Blazers fans:
For the first time, Aldridge is thinking he’d like to sit down with [Blazers GM Neil] Olshey and negotiate a contract extension.
“I would like to re-sign here,” he says. “If they want to talk about it, I would talk about it. They haven’t yet, but I’m looking forward to the chance to do that.”
If Olshey is prepared to make that happen, he’s not revealing it to the media.
“When the appropriate time comes, which is not now, that is a conversation that will happen between (owner) Paul Allen, myself, LaMarcus and his agent (Arn Tellem),” Olshey says. “It’s not a conversation that’s going to play out in the media in January.”
What makes this news especially exciting for the Trail Blazers and their fans, is that earlier in the summer, there was speculation that Aldridge was rather unhappy about how things were going in Portland, with rumors floating around that he wanted out. Whether or not there was any truth to those reports, one thing is certain, which is that winning is the number one way to keep your stars happy. The primary reason why LaMarcus Aldridge is saying he wants to re-sign with the Trail Blazers is because they are winning games and are contenders to come out of the West. I’m not saying he doesn’t love the city, the fans, and the organization, but I am saying that winning makes one have a much more rosy outlook on their own organization.
