Lillard tells Parsons about series clinching shot and how the Rockets “pissed” them off

Damian Lillard and Chandler Parsons traded some jabs during dinner

Possibly the best series of the NBA playoffs during last spring’s epic first round may have been the Houston Rockets matchup against the Portland Trailblazers. The trash talking started with Chandler Parsons declaring he was the best small forward in the series, while three out of the six games went into overtime.

The series would eventually end with Damian Lillard’s epic series-clinching three-pointer. But now, James Harden, Chandler Parsons and Damian Lillard are all together once again. This time, all three are in Las Vegas for the USA Basketball tryouts. And, of course, the topic of Lillard’s crazy three-pointer among other things came up during dinner Monday night.

Via Center:

“We talked about it last night,” said Lillard. “The first thing they both — James asked me and (Parsons) asked me — was: ‘Did I know if it was going in?’ Lillard said Tuesday after Day 2 of the USA Basketball training camp. “I said: ‘Yeah.’ And then after that we just talked about the whole series. I told (Parsons), ‘Y’all kind of pissed us off because it came back to us that you was like ‘I’m definitely the best small forward in the series and we deserve to win.’ And I was like, ‘That’s not true.’ … I mean, we laughed about it. What happened, what’s done is done. We did what we had to do.”

Although this series will be a bit different next year seeing that Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik have left via free agency, these two teams should still be in the thick of things in the tough Western Conference. In the meantime, I’m sure these three will continue to trade jabs during their time in Las Vegas.

One Response to Lillard tells Parsons about series clinching shot and how the Rockets “pissed” them off

  • All teams play different styles and some play dirty some passive, Houston plays dirty Portland passive, Parson was what kept Houston in the mix last year and to think they lost him will hurt and Lin will help LAL but they need all the help they can get! Lillard was being nice to parson & harden in las vegas he knows how dirty some of those shots in the face or ribs was but he knows it’s water under the bridge. Portland will be better this year with Kamen & Blake and the rest of the bench better learn how to play. Mo Williams is a big lose so someone had better step up and earn their wages. I don’t know if Houston will make it to far they will be better than LAC (they arn’t as dirty as LAC) but LAL could be thorn in Houstons side.
