Luol Deng agrees to a deal with the Heat
The Miami Heat lost Lebron James in free agency, but they did pick up a quality small forward to plug into the starting lineup to go alongside Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. That small forward would be Luol Deng, who has agreed to a 2 year, $20M deal with the Heat according to USA TODAY Sports. It is no secret that Deng was unhappy in Cleveland and a return to Chicago seemed unlikely after the way things ended for him there. Once LeBron James was gone from Miami, Deng seemed like a no brainer choice for the Heat to pick up and likewise for Deng this seems like a perfect fit. The Heat still plan on being a contender in the East, and adding Deng is probably as good of a way to stop the bleeding of losing LeBron James as any transaction could be. Deng is a former All-Star and one of the better two-way swingmen in the league, averaging 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1 steal per game last season. He is no LeBron James, but he is still a guy who can produce and play alongside both Bosh and Wade, which is why he is a great addition for Miami.
