Mark Cuban Rooting For Spurs to Win Title

The Dallas Mavericks ended their 2013-2014 campaign with a game seven loss to the defending Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs in the latest installment of their in-state rivalry. Mavs owner Mark Cuban has decided he is going to cheer on the Spurs to go on and win it all. Why, you may ask? He could be using the reasoning of “if they win it all, and we lost to them, that means we were pretty good!”, or maybe he just want a fellow Texas team to bring home the trophy. Nope. Cuban just wants Spurs future hall-of-famer Tim Duncan to retire:

On Ben & Skin on 105.3 The Fan on Friday, Cuban gave his prediction for the remainder of the NBA playoffs:

“I want San Antonio to win. I want Tim Duncan to hit a game-winning shot to win in Game 7. Then go to the finals and do the exact same thing — hit a game-winning shot in Game 7…run down the tunnel, never to be seen again. I want him to retire on the spot. I hope he gets that last ring and it’s all the incentive he needs to retire.”

Even if Cuban’s predictions did come to fruition, and Duncan retired, Cuban’s own star, Dirk Nowitzki probably won’t be too far behind. Oh, and he’d still have to figure out a way to leap ahead of the other six teams that finished ahead of the Mavs this season.

A Duncan-less Spurs team would be a good start though…
