Nate McMillian’s days in Portland may be numbered

The Portland Trail Blazers have had a tremendously disappointing season thus far. With pressure mounting on the team and it’s players, the blame will likely (as it often does) land squarely on the shoulders of head coach, Nate McMillan.

The Blazers currently hold an abysmal record of just 19-21. That’s good enough for 5th place in the Northwest division (behind Utah and Minnesota).

The Western Conference is about as cut-throat as it gets in the NBA. Falling into last place in your division when you were expected to be the six or seven seed will never appeal to your fan-base.

The rumors are swirling that Nate McMillan has lost the locker room. One source close to the situation has said that some players on the Portland roster would like to see McMillan fired in favor of assistant coach, Bernie Bickerstaff.

Bickerstaff was the skipper for the Seattle SuperSonics, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Bobcats, so he isn’t without experience.

We’ve watched this movie before and it typically doesn’t play out well for the head coach. Once your players lose faith in what you’re preaching, the end of the tunnel is usually in sight.
