NBA Executive Thinks Jimmy Butler is Worth Max Contract
Free agency has begun, and it’s your annual reminder that there will always be terrible contracts thrown around. Guys are constantly overpaid, and some of the deals are just flat out laughable.
If Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls ever hits the open market, he could be a prime example. Butler is a nice player, particularly on the defensive end. He competes as hard as anyone, and while his offensive game needs work, he’s certainly still developing.
There’s a difference between being a nice player and being a max contract player. Well, maybe not according to one executive.
@McGrawDHBulls I spoke to an NBA executive the other day who said they would happily max Butler. Double checked and he wasn’t joking.

This is terrifying. If Jimmy Butler gets a max contract, we might as well sign up for another lockout immediately.
Maybe the exec was talking tongue in cheek, or maybe he was trying to inflate Butler’s value. Either way, I hope he wasn’t serious.
