NBA Rookie Punched Prep Senior During a Pickup Game

  • Mark Evans

Well, this isn’t a headline you ever want to see associated with anyone, let alone anyone on your time.

When you’re in the NBA, you have to know that everything you do will become public news. You’re held to a higher standard sometimes, for better or for worse.

Leading up to the NBA Draft, there were character concerns about UNC’s P.J. Hairston. He will play with the Charlotte Hornets this season, but his time in the NBA is not getting off to a good start.

We don’t know all the details, but this is an awful look.

Regardless of who punched who first, an NBA player has to know better than to hit a prep player in a pickup game.

Stories like this won’t make the Hornets comfortable with their pick, and if Hairston doesn’t straighten himself out, it will have a negative effect on his career.

One Response to NBA Rookie Punched Prep Senior During a Pickup Game

  • Hairston had better hope that this kid is at least 18yrs old. Besides that, what is PJ doing playing against High School kids anyway? It’s not going to improve his game that’s for sure. If he can’t control his behavior any better than fighting kids then maybe he should stay away from that gym.
