Nets No Longer In The Mix For Kyle Korver; Bucks Offering Korver Twice As Much
It was reported a couple of days ago that Kyle Korver going to the Brooklyn Nets was “In The Bag” according to CBS Sports. But now it turns out that Korver to the Nets isn’t just not in the bag; it isn’t happening at all. Chris Broussard of ESPN is reporting that the Nets have pulled out of the running for Kyle Korver, and that it is an issue of money. The Nets were reportedly going to offer Kyle Korver a contract in the range of 3 years, $10M, but that amount wasn’t enough, and the Nets don’t have the flexibility to offer Korver any more money. The Milwaukee Bucks on the other hand, are offering Kyle Korver a contract worth $20M over 3 years according to Marc Stein of ESPN, which doubles what the Nets can offer.
The signing of Kyle Korver would have been a nicc acquisition for the Nets, due to his sharp-shooting abilities from beyond the arc. The Nets overall have had a great off-season through landing Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, but not getting Kyle Korver stings a little. Especially for Deron Williams, who reportedly was excited to reunite with his former Utah Jazz teammate.
