Nicolas Batum is very unhappy with the Trailblazers
In more free agency news, forward Nicolas Batum isextremely unhappy with the Trailblazers organization.
The 6’8″ French forward is currently a restricted free agent, and there has always been a lot of interest around the league in his services. The Minnesota Timberwolves areto offer him a $45-$50 million offer sheet over 4 years, and according to the report, he is sold on the idea that “Minnesota is the best for him and his family.”
Nicolas Batum, according to this source, feels like he has been “low-balled” by Portland.
The Trailblazers have the right to match any offer made to Batum; but will they want to keep him around if he’s unhappy?
The Timberwolves desperately need help at small forward, which is most likely where he would see most of his action in Minnesota. They seem to be set with their bigs and at point guard, but are in serious need of an effective shooting guard and small forward.
People around the league have always raved about Nicolas Batum’s potential and athleticism. He can play both forward positions, and has the tools to be a very good player.
This comes after a season of turmoil for the Blazers. The team did not live up to expectations, and the team looks to be blowing up last year’s roster and starting from scratch with LaMarcus Aldridge as the focal point.
Batum averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block per game last season, as well as shooting 45% from the field and 39% from the three point line.
