Noah Wins Defensive Player Award
Joakim Noah is going to have a smile on his face today. Early on Monday morning it was reported, by NBA.com and other sources that Noah (29) was awarded the top Defensive award, which held opponents to a league-low 91.8 ppg, is the recipient of the 2013-14 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, the NBA announced today. Noah becomes the first Bulls player since Michael Jordan in 1987-88 to earn the honor.
The 6 foot 11 center from Florida, Noah’s name has always been in the honors for NBA all star and of course defensive awards and now Joakim’s name will be along with some of the best defensive players in NBA History. Noah is having another solid year, 12.6 points per game, along with 11.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Noah was drafted ninth overall in the first round in the 2007 NBA Draft, by Chicago in which he has spent all six seasons of his career. Good job Joakim, Nice hair.
