Paul George Agrees To A 5 Year, $90M Contract Extension With The Pacers
Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Paul George and the Indiana Pacers are finalizing a 5 year, $90M contract extension. The deal is expected to be signed later this week. George has not only been a key part of the Pacers’ success over these past couple of seasons, but he has also proven himself to be a key building block for them to build around over the coming decade. Each season, he has improved tremendously, and this past season he averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 36.2% shooting from 3-point range. George is a multifaceted player who can score by attacking the rim as well as from the perimeter along with playing great defense and rebounding the basketball. Players like Paul George are hard to come by, which is why the Pacers are wisely choosing to invest this kind of money in him now and avoid the risk of losing him to another team. By signing him to this kind of contract after only his third season, the Pacers are telling Paul George that they have a ton of confidence in him and that they truly believe that he’s the guy they need to win a championship. Having your team have that kind of confidence in you after three seasons has to feel good. Especially when it comes with $90M!!!
