Paul George’s sister used to make him cry by beating him at basketball

Anyone who has siblings knows how competitive games can be, and emotions can definitely run high in a sibling rivalry. I would swear that any competition between my brother and I had an NBA Finals intensity. Apparently, Paul George had a very similar intensity with his sister, Teiosha, during their basketball games as kids. According to Teiosha, she used to beat Paul so bad that it would bring him to tears.

Here is the quote via Isreal Gutierrez’s profile of George that was linked above:

“I would beat him so bad sometimes, he would cry,” Teiosha said.

However, this was before George had his growth spurt, and became the physical specimen that he is today, which was a surprise to everybody, including Teiosha. Teiosha, who was attending Pepperdine University, hadn’t seen her little brother recently when Paul and their mother came to watch her play:

“I’m walking out of my locker room, and I had my head down and was walking toward them, and I see him standing next to my mom,” she said. “I hardly recognized him. He was just so tall.

“I just said, ‘What the heck have you been doing while I was in college?'”

It’s that growth that gives George the potential to be something special in this league. With the absence of Danny Granger this season for the Indiana Pacers, George has stepped up, and the league has noticed, crowning him this year’s Most Improved Player. I don’t think George is done growing as a player either. He has the build to be a lock-down defender, and can still improve his shooting. Add those two attributes along with his freakish athleticism, and George may be one of the elite players in this league in the next 2-3 years.

Teams may have to give Teiosha a call for a scouting report on how to shut Paul down.
