Raptors not likely to trade Rudy Gay?
Toronto Raptors forward Rudy Gay has been a hot commodity during NBA trade talks so far this off-season. But new general manager Masai Ujiri sees no point in trading an asset like Gay and could not give a clear answer when asked if the Raptors are looking to trade him.
“We need to see the team before we know the direction we’re going to take…“People talk about the so-called taking a step back but we can’t give away players. I don’t believe you should go into a season thinking that way. I understand the big picture. We will figure it out. We need to see where we are and then we can assess where we go.”
While it has been thought that the Raptors would undergo a complete roster overhaul (a la the Boston Celtics) and rebuild from the ground up, Ujiri seems to have other ideas. Gay is due $17.8 million this season from the Raptors after being acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in a mid-season trade.
