Report: Gasol, World Peace on the trading block

  • Andy Flint

After a fairly early playoff exit at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, it looks like the Los Angeles Lakers might be looking to shake things up, once again. According to Sam Amico, FoxSports.

Sources claim that Metta World Peace, also known as Ron Artest, is on the trading block for a late first round pick in Thursday’s Draft. World Peace is still a pretty good defender, but we’ve seen that he can be extremely inconsistent and still has the temper that has gotten him in plenty of trouble.

Additionally, big man Pau Gasol has been linked to the Wizards in exchange for the third overall pick in the draft. Gasol, fairly or unfairly, has kind of been the scapegoat for the struggles the team has had.

This shows that the team is looking to get younger through the draft and make another title run or two while Kobe Bryant is still playing at a high level.

If both these were to occur, perhaps the Lakers hope Kidd-Gilchrist will be available at 3. Is Bryant, Bynum, MKG, and a late first round pick better than what they had this past year? Maybe we’ll find out soon enough.

  • metta world peace need to be in lakers,he is no torch ,pau need to be tread any way .i hate the fact lakers are talking about mo willams.

  • If Gasol is traded Mitch Kupchec needs to get a proven, good veteran. Not some new kid who hasn’t been tested. Hands off of Metta. He’s a Laker with HEART. We need an enforcer on the court at all times. Yes, we can help him tone it down a little. But he plays with his heart. We Laker fans love him. How about considering bringing back Odom. Then we could keep Bynum and Gasol and get back to a championship caliber team. The Clippers are now out after him and we can’t allow that to happen. Kupchec and Jim Buss was absoliutely stupid to let, Fisher, Odom, Walton and Shannon Brown go. We’ve be in crisis ever since. Why don’t we let Kupchec and Mike Brown go? Now that would work for every one.
