Report: Gilbert Arenas close to deal in China
I think it may be officially time to re-name the Chinese Basketball Association the NBA’s Sloppy Seconds. It started with Tracy McGrady, and has graduated to Gilbert Arenas.
According to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears. Arenas is reportedly close to a one-year deal with the Guandong Southern Tigers:

This is probably a good move for Arenas, and McGrady for that matter. They are both still young enough to prove that if they still have something left, they may be able to find an NBA home next year, or later this year after the Chinese Basketball Association’s season ends in March. If you recall, that was the same situation that many players like Kenyon Martin and JR Smith had last year after they signed with the CBA, being able to come back and sign with contenders.
Arenas may be in the same boat if he can prove something overseas. Arenas certainly made a quick trip from the penthouse to the outhouse, and if there is anything America likes more than seeing someone fall from the top, it’s watching them climb back up.
Good luck, Agent Zero.
