Report: Isiah Thomas “not a candidate for ANY job with the Pistons”

  • Andy Flint

Rumors of Isiah Thomas becoming the next general manager of the Detroit Pistons have been swirling across the sports’ world since last week, but a spokesman for the Pistons shot down these crazy rumors on Sunday, saying that these reports are “absolutely false”.

“He is not a candidate for any job with the Pistons,” Mark Barnhill said in an email to MLive. (An upcoming Bad Boys reunion)”was the sole topic.  Period.”
Pistons’ fans can all breath a sigh of relief, as we all recall the debacle that was his time with the New York Knicks. Thomas was the Knicks’ President of Basketball Operations from 2003-2006, and then was the head coach from 2006 to 2008. A time that Knicks’ fan won’t soon forget.
Barnhill says he simply had lunch with Thomas in LA to discuss the upcoming Bad Boys reunion.
“If people are gonna manufacture rumors every time we are seen in the same room as someone, it’s gonna be a long few weeks as we head into the Bad Boys reunion and beyond,” Barnhill wrote.
We know how rumors tend to grow legs and run around until they eventually gas out. These Thomas rumors have started to settle a bit, and perhaps this latest report will bury them all together.
