Report: Rockets making Asik, Lin available in trades
With the Houston Rockets confidence through the ceiling as they ready themselves to land the biggest free agency fish of them all, Dwight Howard, they have reportedly made calls to numerous teams, making Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik available in trades.
The Rockets have already dealt Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers in an attempt to shed some cap. They also waived point guard, Aaron Brooks, and forward, Carlos Delfino earlier Sunday afternoon, as their pursuit for Dwight Howard intensifies. The Rockets confidence in signing Dwight Howard is incredibly high at the moment.
“They already have him, if you talk to them,” one league source said.
Jeremy Lin and Asik may have contracts that appeal to certain, rebuilding teams, being that both have “ballooned” ($15 million apiece had the Knicks/Bulls matched) deals that hit their ceilings, respectively, at around $8.4 million during the 2014-15 season. These contracts would be ideal as expiring deals for any team looking to lose cap heading into 2015-16. The issue will be convincing teams to hold these contracts for the next two seasons.
