Report: Stan Van Gundy not interesting in available head coach openings
Former Miami Heat and Orlando Magic head coach, Stan Van Gundy took this season off as an NBA head coach after a turbulent 2011-12 season with the Magic and superstar center, Dwight Howard. Despite the season off and a few recent openings for head coaching jobs around the association, a report claims that SVG is not interested in any of the available head coaching gigs.

“The Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavs and Philadelphia 76ers are looking for coaches — three more possibilities for former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. I’m told that Van Gundy has no interest in those openings at this time. More jobs could open after the playoffs end, however.”
There has been plenty of speculation as to why Stan doesn’t seem ready to jump back in yet. One theory would be based around how close he was to winning it all in Orlando with the Magic, before watching it all crumble at the hands of Dwight Howard. The other contributing factor may be much simpler. Stan may just be waiting until there is an opening worth jumping on. The prospect of coaching a team at the bottom, such as the Sixers, Cavs, or Pistons may present itself as more of a burden than anything. Perhaps Van Gundy prefers to hook a job that involves less of a rebuild situation.
Many people have speculated about whether or not the Los Angeles Clippers will bring back head coach, Vinny Del Negro or not. Perhaps that would be a gig worth landing in the eyes of SVG, if the opportunity arises. Maybe Stan just needs a longer vacation.
