Rick Carlisle said Kevin Love could be an NFL quarterback

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle believes Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, could be an NFL quarterback. During a recent interview Carlisle spoke incredibly high of the young power forward. Carlisle at one point said Love could throw a chest pass 100 yards. A bit of hyperbole no doubt, but it tells you just how great Love is at the outlet pass.

Via Star-Telegram/Full-Court Press:

“The guy can throw a chest pass 100 yards,” the Dallas Mavericks’ coach said after Friday’s shoot around. “He should be an NFL quarterback and can throw chest passes to the receivers.”

Love would be a statue in the pocket, but it would be interesting to see how far he could throw a football. Carlisle didn’t stop there when praising Love though. The Mavericks’ coach said he see’s a lot of Wes Unseld in Kevin Love.

“I remember Wes Unseld,” Carlisle said. “Unfortunately, that’s how old I am.

“Love is an equal to him in terms of his ability to outlet throws quickly. It’s a phenomenal skill.”

The Mavs will get a close look at Love as they take on the Timberwolves tonight. Love is averaging 26.2 points per game to go along with 14.6 boards. Tip off starts at 8 PM ET and should be a great game.
