Rockets Clinch A Playoff Spot With A Goaltended 3Pointer At The Buzzer

  • PTP Staff

Who loses on a 3 point goaltended shot?  The Phoenix Suns, who are now winless in their last 10 games, gave Houston Rockets plenty of reasons to celebrate.  With the controversy win Tuesday night, the Rockets secured a playoff spot for the first since the 2009 seasons.  The victory was decided when James Harden let go of a three-point shot with the score tied at 98 and no time remaining on the clock.   With a blink of the eye the shot was interfered by Phoenix Sun’s Center, Jermaine O’Neal, whose hand was inside the cylinder as he tried to secure the rebound.  The Houston Rocket’s players knew immediately, suggested that O’Neal had goaltended while the refs agreed.  Just to be sure, the play was under review and ended up being the correct call.  Nonetheless, Houston can relax a little bit now since they made the playoffs.
