Russell Westbrook Undergoes Knee Procedure: He’s Out Until After The All-Star Break
The Thunder got some disappointing news today that they didn’t want to hear. Their star point guard Russell Westbrook underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee today and is out until after the All-Star break according to Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman. The good news in all this is that it sounds like he will be back well before the season ends and the Thunder should be able to still get a good seed for the playoffs. But with how tight the Western Conference is, this has to be a concern for the Thunder in terms of this costing them home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Given that the West is so tight, home court advantage is of the utmost importance to all teams that are in the dogfight for the Western Conference crown. That is why this setback for Westbrook is actually a big deal for the Thunder.
