The Raptors Have Discussed The Possibility Of Trading Rudy Gay
When the Raptors traded for Rudy Gay last season, many saw it as the Raptors trying to get themselves an all-star to build around. However, it should be noted that at the time of the trade, Bryan Colangelo and not Masai Ujiri was the GM of the Raptors. Now that Ujiri is at the helm, chances are good that Ujiri has a different attitude towards Rudy Gay. According to reports, Ujiri has been exploring the possibility of trading Rudy Gay and in the process is being “patient” to wait for the right deal to emerge. There hasn’t been any word on what exactly the Raptors are looking for in exchange for Gay, but if they were to deal him, you can rest assured that they would get some good pieces and assets back for him.
This news also shouldn’t reflect poorly on Rudy Gay, who is one of the top players in the NBA. If you are looking for a star player to build your team around, and you can’t have LeBron James or Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay is as good as any other option out there as far as I’m concerned. He just needs to be in a situation where the organization has his back and is committed to putting the right pieces around him. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what becomes of Gay in Toronto, and whether or not we see him in a different uniform after the trade deadline.
