Toronto Raptors Reportedly Looking to Bring Back Vince Carter
If you have a vintage Vince Carter Raptors jersey laying around in the back of your closet, you may be lucky enough for it to become relevant once again.
The Toronto Raptors were eliminated by the Brooklyn Nets following a successful season where they showed the league that they should be taken seriously. They flourished after dealing Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings, and the franchise certainly has some nice pieces in place moving forward.
This being said, they will probably be looking to add in free agency. According to Marc Stein, the Raptors are interested in bringing back a familiar face; Vince Carter. Via ESPN:
There’s a pretty tasty free-agent scenario in circulation … if it comes to fruition.
Word is that the Raptors have been kicking around the idea of making a free-agent play this summer to try to bring Vince Carter “home” by trying to sign the former face of the franchise away from the Mavericks.
Be advised that Carter has been very happy in Dallas these past three seasons. Very happy. He’s emerged as the emotional leader of Dirk Nowitzki’s team at this late stage of his career and, by all accounts, wants to re-sign with Dallas.
It’s a fun scenario, but I won’t be holding my breath.
Vince seems to be a very good fit in Dallas, and the Mavericks are probably more of a championship contender for the time being. Still, I’m sure the Toronto fans, who went nuts this series, would love to see Vince back in Toronto.
