Tyson Chandler: Carmelo Anthony reminds me of Dirk Nowitzki

Is Carmelo Anthony cut from the same cloth as Dirk Nowitzki? Knicks center, Tyson Chandler sees the similarities. Chandler was heading out of the locker room on Tuesday night after the Knicks 118-110 win over the Celtics, when asked if Anthony could do for the Knicks what Dirk did for the Mavericks just one season ago.

“For sure, for sure,” the center said. “They’re two different players, but I put them both right at the top and I definitely think we can duplicate what we did [in Dallas].”

Does Chandler have a point? Carmelo Anthony has been on the rampage recently, averaging over 30 points per game in the Knicks last 12 contests.

Chandler went on to say. “He’s really put this team on his shoulders, and yes, it does remind me of what Dirk did for us [last year]. I talked to [Anthony] a couple of times after games and said, ‘If you continue to play like that it will just lift the other guys’ play and we can make a heck of a run.’”

My only question as far as the Knicks winning a championship is… How does Amar’e Stoudemire fit into this puzzle? Can he and Melo coexist? That is a question that remains to be answered. The Knicks would be a very difficult first round matchup for anyone if those two (Carmelo and Stoudemire) get on the same page.
