WATCH: Derrick Rose floats in game-winner
The Chicago Bulls faced off against the New York Knicks on Thursday night, in Chicago, just two days after a big loss to the Miami Heat on opening night. The Bulls needed to avoid dropping to 0-2 against two teams who promise to be eastern conference contenders this season.
The Bulls trailed the Knickerbockers 81-80 with just over 10 seconds to go in regulation. Chicago inbounded the ball to Jimmy Butler (who’s currently sporting the worst hair in the league), Butler found, who else, but Derrick Rose, who took his defender baseline, before finishing (over Tyson Chandler) with a tough floater that put the Bulls ahead 82-81.
The Knicks would have just over 5 seconds remaining after Rose’s basket, but couldn’t capitalize and win on the road, as Carmelo Anthony missed the long, potential game-winner, for the Knicks.
Rose, despite neck soreness prior to the game, finished the night with 18 points. Carmelo Anthony led the way for New York with 22 points, and both teams now stand at 1-1 after two games, respectively.
