WATCH: Derrick Williams converts on alley-oop
Derrick Williams, the newly acquired toy for Sacramento, debuted on Friday night for the Kings, and showed promise right away. Williams broke free from his defender, with about 2:30 to go in regulation, Greivis Vasquez sees Williams and hits him with a backdoor lob for a tremendous dunk.
The lob and slam cut the Clippers lead a little, as the Kings trailed 92-89 after the slam. The Clippers would eventually fend off the Kings in overtime by a score of 104-98 without Chris Paul.
Jamal Crawford was huge for the Clippers off the bench, scoring 31 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in 37 minutes of play.
DeMarcus Cousins led the way for the Kings with 25 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in the loss. Derrick Williams played 32 minutes in his debut, notching 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. The good sign for Williams is that it seems as if the Kings are willing to give him the minutes he needs to make an impact. The jury is still out on whether or not he’s a small forward, or power forward.
