WATCH: James Harden connects on a circus shot

  • Andy Flint

We all understand James Harden’s value as a top-tier NBA scorer, and it’s the extra things like what you’ll see in the video below that make him extra special with the rock in hand.

Harden’s smooth flow, and series of hesitation moves ultimately opens up a small crack of opportunity, but Detroit Pistons’ forward Kyle Singler attempts to grab Harden from behind to stop him from executing towards the hoop. Harden shows the intelligence and strength (yes strength) to manage a low percentage attempt as he’s followed. The results are a free bucket and trip to the stripe.

Harden’s impressive circus shot give the Rockets a 6-2 lead, with about 10:30 to go in the first quarter on Saturday night in Houston.

The Rockets would end up winning at home 118-110, behind 20 points, 12 assists, and 6 rebounds from Harden. Dwight Howard chipped in with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, as the Rockets are now 40-19 (8-2 in their last 10 games), which puts them just 2.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.
