WATCH: Thaddeus Young sends Dion Waiters packing
Everyone who chose to tune into the Philadelphia 76ers at the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, received full payment on their viewing investment, as these two, young, exciting teams went out and did battle in Cleveland. The game exploded into a double-overtime battle for the ages, as Kyrie Irving and rookie Michael Carter-Williams went head-to-head.
This block by Thaddeus Young may have been the play of the game, despite plenty of highlights.
Dion Waiters gets the ball in the corner with about six minutes to go in the third quarter. The Sixers were ahead 59-52, and Waiters appears to have an easy dunk to cut the lead to just five. That’s before Thaddeus Young comes flying in from the perimeter to meet Waiters with a viscous rejection. Oh my!
Young sniffs out the play early and uses his quickness to get inside and stop the easy bucket. That’s a grown-man block right there. Thaddeus Young finished the night with 29 points, but the Cavs, led by Kyrie Irving, proved to be too much for this young Sixers’ club, as they eked out a much needed win at home.
