Eli Manning and the New York Giants are getting set to play Super Bowl XLVI on Peyton’s home turf February 5th, in what is Eli’s chance to one up his elder brother in Super Bowl Rings.
Eli will also be starting his quest for a second Super Bowl MVP title in just five years. Another accomplishment that has evaded Peyton.
The greatest part of their sibling rivalry is… Peyton is cheering for his younger bro.
When asked on Tuesday about Eli and his New York Giants trip to Super Bowl XLVI, Peyton had this to say.
“I think it would be great. I’m pulling for the Giants “I’ve always wanted nothing but the best for Eli. I hope he breaks every record I ever have, I’ve always been that way when it comes to him.”
Anyone watching media day likely noticed that Eli Manning was assaulted with a plethora of questions concerning the older and more highly regarded, Peyton Manning, and Eli fired back with some comedic responses referring to Peyton bullying and showing him a bit of tough love as an adolescent.
One thing is for sure. Eli Manning is starting to put the cork in the mouths of critics everywhere. This kid has shown tremendous toughness and skill over the course of this journey to the playoffs. This has easily become his single-best season, and it could get a whole lot better if he manages to lead his underdog Giants into Peyton’s house and come away with another victory over Tom Brady and the favored New England Patriots.
However, I’m not ready to anoint Eli as the superior Manning yet. I may never be ready. Rings are nice, but they don’t tell the entire story.
