DeSean Jackson was released by the Philadelphia Eagles last week due to links to gangs.  It ended days of speculation about whether the Pro Bowl speed man  would be traded and who would e interested.  Now that Jackson has been officially released, the speculation continues as to who will sign him as a free agent.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the Arizona Cardinals will not be one of the teams pursuing Jackson.

The unnamed source that Somers spoke to listed several reasons why Jackson will not be coming to the desert any time soon.  The biggest reason was Jackson’s links to California gangs which according to CBNBayArea, are more complicated than first reported.

The second reason is that the Cardinals have already addressed their speed threat with the signing ofTed Ginn.  While Ginn isn’t on the same levvel as a receiver that Jackson is, Ginn is the cheaper option.  Jackson has made much fuss in the past about money, even after signing a long term deal with the Eagles worth $53 million.  So it’s a given that free agent Jackson will demand a top dollar contract.

Jackson also has a reputation of being a diva.  He’s been compared to Terrell Owens and the Cardinals don’t think he’d fit in with the locker room.
